Do you cover the cost of vaccinations?

Depending on your specific needs, we can provide pre-trip advice such as what vaccinations are required and the local medical conditions at your destination (Page 7 of our PDS).

For prescribed medications and maintenance and in case they get lost during a trip, this can be covered for as long as the medical condition related to these medications are declared.

As for preventive vaccination, we primarily advise to visit your GP and ask for options. Also, look out for the health section in Smarttravelers.gov.au to check out advice and medical precautions needs to be looked at depending on the country you chose to travel in.

Will i be covered if i have to return home early or cancel the trip due to family emergency at home?

Depends on the reason. We cover curtailment of the trip for the unexpected death of, or sudden serious injury or illness of, your, or your travelling companion’s relative who is resident in Australia or New Zealand and who is in Australia or New Zealand at the time the event occurs, or of your business associate who is resident in Australia and who is in Australia at the time the event occurs OR if there is a serious damage to your home or business premises in Australia.

How travel insurance plays role for loss of baggage?

Under our travel insurance policies, we will cover items that accompany you for individual and personal use during the trip. Based on the level of cover selected, we will pay up to the amount offered by your policy for items owned (not rented) by you that are lost, stolen or damaged during your trip.

Do you cover a scooter ride?

Two & three-wheeled vehicles are covered provided you and your passengers are wearing a helmet, and if the vehicle is rated under 125cc; or if rated over 125cc you hold a valid driver’s license for the equivalent rated vehicle in Australia.

What are you covered for if your holiday is affected due to corona virus?

Our policies provide certain coverage for COVID-19-related events. You can find more information about our coverage here.

Do you cover HIV as an existing condition?

Any claim arising from conditions where you, your partner, or your travelling companion are affected by an Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) or AIDS related complex (ARC) or Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is not covered.

Do you cover pre-existing medical conditions?

Yes, we consider all pre-existing medical conditions in all of our travel insurance products, except for our Domestic Travel Insurance. To determine whether your condition will be covered, you will need to complete the Medical Assessment during the purchase process online or over the phone.

Is pregnancy covered by travel insurance?

We automatically cover you for unlimited medical, hospital and surgical for the complications of pregnancy up to 30 weeks for one baby only, up to 20 weeks if you are expecting more than one baby. However, be advised that this policy is limited to the complications of pregnancy only. For a comprehensive list of what is and is not covered please refer to the Policy Wording Documents.

How do I amend details for medical conditions?

If you want to amend your medical conditions, you will need to contact our Customer Service Team in order to discuss this with them. Please call us on 1300 552 701.

Please keep in mind we have the right to change the conditions of your policy in line with the change of risk and depending on your condition. We may include or decline the cover, or charge an extra cost.

Do you cover osteoporosis?

Pre-existing conditions are not covered unless declared and accepted by us. You need to disclose all conditions for which you have taken advice, treatments or medications in the last 5 years. To do this you need to go through a medical questionnaire. The process can be completed on the website or over the phone. You need to list all the conditions and answer the questions. Depending on your response we may offer or decline the cover.
