Will I be covered for medical expenses if I'm going on a helicopter

All our international policies provide cover for medical expenses due to an unforeseen accident, illness or injury whilst going on a helicopter. However, you need to ensure that the helicopter ride is with a commercial operator, is available to the general public, not considered an extreme risk and does not require special skills or a high level of fitness to undertake.

Please keep in mind that personal accident or personal liability cover is not available for this activity. Please refer to the policy wording documents for more information.

What if our helicopter tour is cancelled due to poor weather?

Tour cancellations for the operator/tour company are not covered through InsureandGo.

How do you cover delayed baggage?

Delayed baggage is an inclusion in our Silver and Gold policies. If your baggage is delayed for more than 24 hours, we will provide cover for the reasonable cost of essential items. The amount you can claim is up to $500 on Silver and $750 on Gold.

Please note there is no cover under this section if your baggage is delayed on your final inward journey returning home.

We will pay up to the amount shown in the Table of benefits for the reasonable cost of buying essential items whilst your baggage is not in your possession if your baggage is delayed by an airline or transport company during your trip for more than 8 hours

Sub-limits are applicable depending on your level of cover and the length of time that your luggage is delayed. The sub-limits are specified in the Table of Benefits in PDS.

Do you provide cover for iPads?

Under our Silver and Gold policies, we cover iPads as an electronic device up to $2,000 for Silver and $3,000 for Gold.

How do you cover accidental damage?

We cover you for loss, theft or damage to your items, accompanying you from Australia, provided you have taken reasonable precautions to avoid the situation and have not left the item unattended.

Do you cover terrorism?

We cover terrorism for medical expenses ONLY. This means you will not be able to claim for cancellation, emergency expenses or cutting your trip short in the event of a terrorist event. However, we will cover you for unlimited hospital, medical and surgical expenses in the event of terrorism whilst you are overseas.

You may be eligible under Section A (Cancelling your trip before departure) if you need to cancel or curtail your trip because a location in your planned itinerary is added/updated on the Smartraveller website to "Do not travel" or "Reconsider your need to travel", after the policy issue date and before your departure date on the Policy Schedule.

Do you provide cover for cycling?

Our policies provide cycling cover for unlimited hospital, medical and surgical expenses, personal accident and personal liability due to an unforeseen accident, illness or injury.

We do not provide coverage for Competitive Cycling, mountain biking, downhill racing and/or extreme stunts or ground conditions.

Am I covered for a mount agung volcano eruption in Bali?

Your potential coverage for claims relating to Mount Agung will depend on the date and time at which you purchased your policy, and whether you purchased natural disaster cover as an add-on to your policy.

Please note: medical expenses incurred due to natural disasters are automatically covered in all international policies, without having to purchase the natural disaster cover option.

How do you cover emergency evacuation?

Medical evacuation is covered as long as medically necessary and emergency. The decision is taken by the claims/assistance team, based on the medical situation and other facts/circumstances.

How does cancellation cover work?

Cancellation cover starts on the date of purchase on Silver and Gold policies.

Cancellation is covered if the insured cannot travel due to medical reasons, the death of a relative, an unknown natural disaster (if you have included this option in your policy), serious damage to the home in Australia and so on. In any such event, the insured can cancel and claim for the non-recoverable pre-booked expenses lost on the trip.
