Sunday 4th 09/ is on its way, and in case you’ve forgotten, it’s Father’s Day. These holiday ideas are perfect for all kinds of dads and if you can’t make it happen this year, start planning for the next!

Go on a big tuna charter

For fishing-frenzied dads who love a great catch, a trip to Nova Scotia is in order. Huge bluefin tuna hang around the deep Canadian waters and their islands, and it’s possible to bring in a big fish that weighs over 1,000 pounds.

Catch and release is the regulation, and charters are generally open from 08/to October.

Play a stunning round

Is your dad a golf fanatic? If so, treat him to a golf package at the Kapalua Plantation Course, at the Ritz-Carlton on Maui, Hawaii.

Unleash his inner kid with zorbing

If your dad’s always trying to release his inner child, head to Rotorua, New Zealand, and try your hand zorbing! You’ll get to rough-and-tumble inside a huge plastic orb filled with water, and various slopes are available to suit beginners and thrill seekers.

Take him glacier hiking

Iceland is home to some of the world’s most impressive glaciers, and hiking them is all too easy here. Most tours will pick up and drop off at Reykjavik and give you the once-in-a-lifetime chance to climb a gigantic glacier.

Don’t worry, it’s not as hard as it sounds, and most hikes are classified as ‘moderate.’

Go for a swim with crocs

You won’t have to go far for this one – but only if you dare! Crocosaurus Cove in Darwin gives keen croc confronters the chance to dive with crocodiles in what’s called the ‘Cage of Death.’

Up to two people can dive together at a time, and it’s an amazing (and safe) way to get up and close with these prehistoric reptiles.

Ride like you’re in the Wild West

A horseback ride through Bryce Canyon National Park in the south of Utah will have you and your dad winding your way through gorgeous rock formations, just like real cowboys used to do.

Key sights here include the Bryce Amphitheater, Thor’s Hammer and the Aquarius Plateau. Ensure you stick around for the sunset, which brings sensational colours.

Zipline amongst the treetops

From the ground, Angkor Wat in Cambodia is impressive. But from the treetops, it’s all about the jungle!

This zipline park – named Flight of the Gibbon – will have you and your dad zipping multiple times (with a guide) through the UNESCO-listed jungle canopy and spotting wild gibbons at the same time.

If your dad loves a spot of culture, this could be a great holiday idea; tours include hotel pick up/drop off, as well as a traditional Cambodian meal.

Take him to a festival

What better way to celebrate Father’s Day than partying with your pop?!

Down Under, there’s plenty going on in 09/, such as the Sydney Fringe Festival, the Brisbane Festival, the Noosa Jazz Festival, the Rock n’ Roll Festival at Victor Harbour, and the Kings Park Festival in Perth.

Just be sure to get tickets and book accommodation or camping spots in advance.
