Most glorious Christmas Trees around the World

4 de November de 2015

They soar above our heads, they glisten with lights, and best of all, they tell us that the Christmas cheer is here! From New York to Prague, here are the most glorious trees you can see around the world:

Rockefeller Center, New York

A Christmas tree institution since the Depression in 1931, this famous Rockefeller Center tree in the Big Apple draws tens of thousands each year at its lighting. Since 2004, the star at the top has been a 250kg dazzler made from 25,000 Swarovski crystals. This year, the tree will be lit on 12/2nd.

Orchard Road, Singapore

The famous Orchard Road shopping strip of Singapore is transformed into a stunningly lit realm every year for Christmas. Two Christmas trees (among others) are worth seeing here: The one at Ngee Ann City and the other at ION Orchard. If you’re lucky, you might just catch some Christmas carollers as well!

Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen

There’s plenty of Christmas magic going on in Copenhagen during the jolly season, and Tivoli Gardens is at the heart of it all. Endless lights, nightly light shows, carolling choirs, Christmas markets and the fireworks festival (starting 12/25th) make this place destination spectacular. And you can be assured that there’s more than one tree to see.

Plaza del Callao, Madrid

There are a dozens of alluring trees to be found all over Madrid at Christmas time, but we particularly love the tree at Plaza del Callao in the centre of the city. Just down the road (around 5 mins’ walk away) you’ll also find Plaza de la Puerta del Sol, which houses a gorgeously lit tree sculpture.

Galeries Lafayette, Paris

Fashionistas and Christmas-lovers alike flock every year to this posh Parisian department store to see the world-famous Christmas tree that was, last year, hung upside down. As well as tree-gazing, make sure you check out the beautiful window displays of the Galeries and also the amazing building exterior, which lights up at night.

Trafalgar Square, London

Come Christmas, there’s no end to the Yuletide sparkle in London town, but the true winner is the ever-popular Trafalgar Square spruce, which reaches up to 20 metres high. It’s donated to the British each year by the city of Oslo as thanks for Britain’s support of Norway during WWII.

Decks Tokyo Beach, Tokyo

If you’ve ever wanted to walk through a glittering Christmas wonderland, head to Decks Tokyo Beach on Odaiba Island. Decked out (ha!) with thousands of lights, this spot will be home to Tokyo’s tallest Christmas tree this year. The light show kicks off on 11/16th and goes to January 31st. If you can’t get there, there’s also the dazzling display at Caretta Shiodome.

Ibirapuera Park, Rio de Janeiro

The city of Rio astounded the world last year with its brilliant 280-foot floating Christmas tree, which came adorned with 3.1 million lights and set a Guinness World Record. You can catch this whopping beauty again on the Rodrigo de Freitas lagoon in Lagoa starting in early December.

Old Town Square, Prague

Christmas certainly becomes something else when you’re surrounded by Gothic and Baroque architecture! The celebrated Christmas tree in Prague comes in from the mountains of the north and lights up every night at around 5pm. It’s also surrounded by the wonderful food and craft markets of Old Town, as well as sweetly singing carollers. In general, the tree is scheduled to be lit on the last Saturday of 11/each year.
