7 weirdly delicious burgers for International Hamburger Day

27 de May de 2015

When was the last time you had a greasy chow down? In homage to International Hamburger Day on 05/28th, we’ve put together a list of some of the most weirdly delicious burger creations ever!

Cadbury Crème Egg Burger – K West Hotel & Spa, London

To celebrate Easter this year, the K West group created this burger slider using a Cadbury crème egg. It might look savoury, but don’t worry – everything else you see is sweet too. The bun is covered in white chocolate and the ketchup and mayo is really jam and mascarpone. A must for Cadbury lovers!

The PB&J Bun Burger – PYT, Philadelphia

PYT is frequently seen at the top of crazy burger lists, and one of our faves was this PB&J. Instead of a bun top and bottom, you got two deep-fried, kettle-chip-covered PB&J sandwiches. In between sat a banana-and-sriracha-marinated patty and apple smoked bacon. Yikes!

Unfortunately, this feed was a one-time installation only, so you’ll need to scoff something else at this Philly icon.

The Bird – Pub Life Kitchen, Sydney

Chicken burgers get taken to a whole new level at this place, which offers up a fried chicken burger covered in crushed-up Doritos corn chips.

Tangy and crunchy and slathered in coleslaw, this is one of the coolest things you 05/ever eat. Luckily, this one is a menu regular at Pub Life Kitchen, so you can try it anytime.

Dark Vador Burger – Quick, France

To add to the hype of The Phantom Menace 3D release back in 2012, the Quick restaurant chain created this insanely black burger in honour of Darth Vader.

It came in a black box and featured a black bun, along with two beef patties, cheese, tomato and lettuce. They don’t serve this at the Mos Eisley Cantina!

Pigeon & Worm Burger – Rentokil, London

There are many ways to promote your pest control business, but this one made us oddly hungry!

In 2013, Rentokil decided to celebrate their 85th anniversary by popping up a shop on the streets of London and serving this – a chilli pigeon burger topped with mealworms. Also on the menu were insect lollipops and salt-n-vinegar crickets.

Big Bird – Royale Eatery, Cape Town

It’s not always about the chicken. Amongst the beauty of South Africa, this cool burger joint gives you the unique chance to try the Big Bird – an ostrich burger with beetroot relish.

For a little extra, you can also top it off with feta cheese, or any other toppings like brie cheese and coriander pesto.

Quadruple Bypass Burger – Heart Attack Grill, Las Vegas

You better have your defibrillator handy if you’re going to eat this burger!

This heart attack waiting to happen comes with 4½ pounds of beef, 20 bacon slices – all cooked 3 tablespoons of lard. Not surprisingly, this burger holds the Guinness World Record for the most calorific burger ever, with 10,000 calories. Would you eat it?
