Don’t be left out in the cold or fall for another boring holiday this year. Spring for one of these great destinations that are hotter than the summer sun. Following this helpful guide to travelling with the seasons is sure to quite literally make you a well-seasoned traveller.

Summer

 

 

Domestic: Tasmania

While the rest of Australia sizzles in the dry summer heat, head to Tasmania where you can find comfortable temperatures along with an almost constant sea breeze. With beautiful deserted beaches and endless nature, Tasmania comes alive during the summer months where one can enjoy epic annual events like the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race and Mofo (Mona’s festival of music and art).

International: Dubai

Australia’s summer months are a great time to visit Dubai as it is winter there and temperatures become far more bearable than its summer highs which reach the mid 40s along with high humidity.

Visit the world’s tallest hotel, the world’s largest shopping mall, and the world’s tallest building Burj Khalifa. This is also the time of year where you can experience one incredible New Year’s celebration. Dubai is known for throwing massive New Year’s celebrations, some considered to be the world’s largest displays of fireworks.

Domestic: Dandenong Ranges

Just to the east of Melbourne lies the stunning Dandenong Ranges with its rolling hills and valleys. The areas numerous scenic drives and hikes are perfect for viewing stunning autumn foliage. The autumn colours are best seen in places like the R J Hamer Arboretum as well as the area’s many gardens such as George Tindale Memorial Gardens and the Dandenong Ranges Botanic Gardens.

Stay at a lovely Bed & Breakfast and take a ride on the Puffing Billy Railway which runs through the southern Dandenongs.

International: Japan

Autumn in Australia means spring in Japan, and that means you can witness Hanami Season. The Hanami Season celebrates the magic beauty of cherry tree blossoms which occurs from March to 05/across Japan. Head to Kyoto or Tokyo for wonderful viewing or catch cherry blossoms with a backdrop of Mount Fuji for the ultimate scenic shot.

Our nation’s capital was recently named Lonely Planet’s 3rd best city to visit in 2018. What better time to visit than in Spring where you can enjoy the annual Floriade festival, a flower and entertainment event featuring extensive floral displays, art, and fun.

The city is home to the must see Australian War Memorial and countless other inspirational and educational museums. Take a stroll around Lake Burley Griffin and take in the areas wildlife which includes a great deal of kangaroos.

International: Vancouver Island

With direct flights from Australia to Vancouver, you can easily get to this beautiful area of western Canada. A scenic ferry ride will get you to Vancouver Island as you search for orca whales, eagles, and even bears along the shoreline during your voyage.

The island is home to the world famous Butchart Gardens which is perfect for autumn foliage viewing. The gardens are listed as a National Historic Site of Canada and receive well over a million visitors annually.
