Bush Fires in New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia

Over the past few weeks, strong winds and high temperatures have caused catastrophic fire conditions across NSW, QLD and SA, both states have issued numerous warnings in various areas.
It is anticipated that this situation will only become more hazardous in the short term, and the bush fires in NSW and QLD are considered a known event as of 12:00am (AEST) on 11th November 2019. The fires in SA however, are considered a known event as of 12:00am (AEST) on 20th December 2019.
Am I covered for the New South Wales and Queensland fires?
- If you purchased your policy after 12:00am (AEST) on 11th November 2019 you are likely not covered for claims arising from the NSW and QLD Bush Fires, even if you purchased natural disaster cover as an add on to your policy. However, we will assess your situation considering all aspects of the case.
- If you purchased your policy before 12:00am (AEST) on 11th November 2019 you are covered for claims arising from the NSW and QLD Bush Fires, provided that you purchased natural disaster cover as an add on to your policy.
Am I covered for the South Australia fires?
- If you purchased your policy after 12:00am (AEST) on 20th December 2019 you are likely not covered for claims arising from the SA Bush Fires, even if you purchased natural disaster cover as an add on to your policy. However, we will assess your situation considering all aspects of the case.
- If you purchased your policy before 12:00am (AEST) on 20th December 2019 you are covered for claims arising from the SA Bush Fires, provided that you purchased natural disaster cover as an add on to your policy.
