Singapore out to lure more tourists

Singapore is hoping to attract an increased number of visitors by launching a new tourism campaign, The Sydney Morning Herald has reported.

Entitled ‘Your Singapore’, the focus of the campaign is the multiculturalism and inclusiveness of the island nation.

Singapore has traditionally been a popular destination with Australians, with an estimated 70 per cent of visiting Aussies having been there before.

Aw Kah Peng, Singapore Tourism Board Chief Executive, said, “For a very long time Australians have stopped over… a night, maybe two, but then they’re off to the UK or somewhere in Europe, but we think that will change in future.”

It is also hoped that the opening of two multi-million dollar casino resorts in Singapore will help draw a wide range of visitors to the island nation, with one resort aimed at families, and the other at business travellers.

Australians heading to Singapore can cover their trip with a travel insurance policy from InsureandGo.
