World pickpocketing hotspots revealed
A survey by travel website Tripadvisor.com has revealed the ten worst cities for pickpocketing across the world.
According to News.com.au, the Spanish city of Barcelona was named as the likeliest destination in which tourists would be relieved of their valuables. The main street of Las Ramblas in particular was named as a risky location for visitors.
Those taking valuable items abroad would be well advised to take out travel insurance to cover the loss or theft of personal belongings.
TripAdvisor’s Chief Marketing Officer, Christine Petersen, commented, ‘Travellers need to be aware of all kinds of tricks meant to distract them from their belongings while enjoying popular world attractions.’
Several other European destinations also appeared in the top ten, including Rome, Prague, Madrid, Paris and Vienna.
